BUILDING BEGINS ON THE 'THREE' BLACKBIRDS
We are excited to say that work on rebuilding our historic inn began earlier this month. We are equally as excited to say that when we reopen later this year we will open as The Three Blackbirds.
While devastation caused by the fire is still evident, we are often taken aback by what survived. One such survivor is our cherry tree, seen here in full bloom amongst the scaffolding and building materials. The tree was planted by the Blackbirds team almost 20 years ago in memory of Tom. Tom worked in the kitchen and was the son of Chris Winch, a valued friend of the pub.
Last year extensive work took place in preparation for the rebuilding process. This included removing tonnes of debris and underpinning the property. By March 2019 the building was fully stripped back and ready for the building team to roll up their sleeves and get to work restoring our much-loved village inn.
The next milestone in the rebuild will be the central chimney works which will see a new stack built by the end of May.
In addition to this, we are pleased to say that work on building the new rooms behind The Three Blackbirds is underway with the footings and foundation complete!
There are exciting times ahead for The Three Blackbirds!
